Your first game drive rarely looks like the wildlife documentaries. There's a lot of quiet driving, a lot of scanning tall grass, and then, usually when you've stopped actively looking, something enormous appears fifteen metres from the vehicle.

Bring binoculars, dress in neutral colours, and trust your guide's patience. The best sightings usually come to the vehicles that wait rather than the ones that rush to the next spot.
Safari rewards patience more than luck, most of the time.
