Kampala Through Taj’s Eyes
Walk, taste, listen and experience the city I know. Discover Kampala beyond the landmarks through neighbourhoods, markets, food, stories and everyday life.
Meet the people. Taste the food. Explore the streets. Share the stories.
I’m Taj, a Ugandan guide, traveller and storyteller. Come with me through the colourful streets of Kampala, cook and share a meal with a local family, discover Entebbe beyond the airport, spend a day along the Nile in Jinja, dance through a Kampala night, or escape the city for a few days in the wild.
Uganda is home to me, but even after years of travelling around it, I am still discovering something new. Some of my favourite travel memories haven’t happened inside national parks. They’ve happened around tables, in busy markets, on Kampala streets, beside Lake Victoria, at concerts, inside family kitchens and during conversations with people I had only just met.
Those are the experiences I want to share with you. Go With Taj is my invitation to a more personal side of Uganda: the people, food, neighbourhoods and everyday moments that make Uganda feel like Uganda.
Come as a visitor. Experience Uganda like a local.

Let’s turn ingredients into lunch. Learn about Ugandan ingredients, cook alongside your hosts, then sit down together and eat what you’ve made.
Kampala changes when the sun goes down. Live music, bars, food, dancing, events and the energy of the city after sunset, with someone who knows where to go.
Entebbe is much more than Uganda’s airport. Discover its markets, neighbourhoods, lakeside atmosphere, food and relaxed way of life.
Slow things down with an evening on Lake Victoria as the sun settles over the water and Entebbe’s shoreline disappears into the evening.

Kampala can be chaotic, colourful, loud, delicious and incredibly welcoming, sometimes all within the same street.
It is a city best experienced rather than simply observed.
Come with me into markets, neighbourhoods, historic places, restaurants, street-food spots and social spaces. Meet some of the people who make the city what it is and discover the Kampala that doesn’t always make it into guidebooks.

Don’t rush through Entebbe just because your flight landed there.
Spend a morning discovering the town, eat beside Lake Victoria, wander through a local market, meet people, explore its green spaces or finish your day watching the sun disappear across the lake.
Entebbe is a wonderful introduction to Uganda and an even better place to slow down before going home.
Discover Entebbe

Jinja has the Nile, but there is much more to the city than the river.
Spend a day discovering its streets, food, people and creative energy. Meet locals, explore the riverside and experience the slower rhythm of one of Uganda’s most interesting towns.
Spend a Day in JinjaLocal experiences are at the heart of Go With Taj, but sometimes Uganda calls us a little further away. Track rhinos at Ziwa, stand across two hemispheres at the Equator, spend three days exploring Murchison Falls or travel southwest for a gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. These are bigger journeys, but we’ll approach them the same way: personally, slowly and with room for the unexpected.
Leave the city for a day and travel north to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino tracking experience.
Cross from one hemisphere to another and spend time around one of Uganda’s most recognisable roadside destinations, as part of the journey rather than a photo stop.
Trade the city for savannah, wildlife and the Nile: three days of game viewing, the river and the powerful Murchison Falls landscape.
Travel into southwestern Uganda for one of the country’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences, trekking mountain gorillas.
Concerts, festivals, live music, exhibitions, food events, pop-up markets and cultural celebrations happen throughout the year. Check what’s happening while you’re in Uganda and, when possible, come experience it with me.

Two days of local makers, street food and live music. A great place to find gifts directly from the people who made them.

An evening of traditional dance and drumming from across Uganda’s regions, followed by a shared dinner.
New events are added all the time. Message Taj with your travel dates and she’ll tell you what’s on.

Travelling alone, I never once felt unsafe or rushed. Taj built the days around me.
Booked a one day Jinja trip and ended up rebooking for a longer safari on the spot.
Felt safe, well cared for, and genuinely shown Uganda rather than driven past it.
Taj planned our three days around exactly what we asked for, and joined us the whole way.
You don’t necessarily need a perfectly planned itinerary. Tell me when you’re coming, what you’re curious about and how you like to travel. I’ll help you find an experience that feels right for you. Let’s explore Uganda together.
